An Easy Guide for Busy Moms This Ramadan

You want to stand in taraweeh prayers just like others but your child is refusing to leave you even for a couple of minutes to make wudhu. You want to read some Quran but you have never ending chores to take care of, making you feel exhausted even before you can sit down peacefully for a couple of minutes. Feeling frustrated that you are not able to engage in proper ibadah this Ramadan because motherhood is sucking every ounce of energy and strength away from you? This article is for you!

With careful planning and a few simple adjustments, busy moms like yourself CAN make the most of this sacred month and elevate your ibadah game in sha Allah.

Embracing Intentions and Organization

Every act of worship begins with niyyah (intention). Yes, juggling motherhood with ibadah, especially during Ramadan, can be very challenging, but with the right intention and a little bit of organisation, you can get a majority of tasks done with ease.

“Indeed, actions are only by intentions, and for each person is that which he has intended.”

Make sure that every act of ibadah you want to do is for the sake of Allah. While it is okay to compete with others who are loading their scale with good deeds, do not forget your ultimate purpose – to please Allah and no one else.

Search for tiny pockets of time throughout the day:

You may not be able to able to attend long taraweeh nights or recite Quran for hours on end, but finding pockets of time when the baby sleeps, or setting aside 10 minutes every 2 hours to quickly read a few verses of the Quran from your phone is one of the easiest ways to stack up your scale of good deeds.

Nurturing Spiritual Connections Amidst Daily Tasks

While fulfilling familial duties, finding moments for spiritual engagement is essential. Incorporating dhikr (remembrance of Allah) into daily activities such as cooking, cleaning, or commuting can be a game changer.

Additionally, try involving children in age-appropriate ibadah activities. it could be something as simple as teahicng them simple words like “subhanAllah”, “alhamdulillah” or “Allahu akbar”. Check out the Ramadan Camp with Muslim KidsTV – tailor made for kids alhamdulillah.

Utilize Technology Mindfully:

Use apps and online resources for Quranic study, Islamic lectures, and dhikr reminders. There are tons of apps and resources available online. Sometimes, you may feel like you have no time, but when you become mindful of how and where your free time is being consumed, it will become very easy to do these quick deeds without hassle.

Utilize Breaks: Take advantage of short breaks or moments of waiting to recite dhikr, whether standing in line, waiting for an appointment, or during brief pauses in work.

Multitasking: Combine dhikr with other activities by reciting tasbih while walking, exercising, or engaging in light physical tasks.

Incorporate Dhikr Apps: Use mobile apps that provide reminders and guided sessions for dhikr, allowing for seamless integration into a busy schedule.

Be flexible with your ibadah and make sure to break down big goals into doable deeds that require short burst of time and energy. This way, you will be able to do more without feeling burnt out or overwhelmed.

Maximize Family Involvement

Engage Children in Acts of Worship:

Encourage children to participate in age-appropriate acts of worship, such as breaking fast together, reading Quran, and engaging in charitable activities. Start small but start somewhere.

Quality Time with Loved Ones:

Utilize iftar and suhoor as opportunities for family bonding and collective prayers, creating an environment of love, support, and shared devotion.

Seek Support and Community Engagement

Community Involvement:

Participate in community-led iftars, taraweeh prayers, and Islamic classes, fostering a sense of belonging and communal support during this spiritually enriching time.

Connect with Like-Minded Individuals:

Seek out support from other mothers and women within your community, creating spaces for open dialogue, mutual encouragement, and shared spiritual growth.

Remember, it’s not about the quantity of actions, but the quality of intention and dedication you bring to each act of worship. May this Ramadan be a time of profound spiritual growth, inner peace, and abundant blessings for all busy moms striving to deepen their connection to Allah.
